Production Blog

Finally, I'm going to have this over with. I won't have to write any more production blogs after this. So, I finally started on my commercial. Right now, I'm not really getting all the results I wanted. I keep having to start over and tweak constantly as I just am not satisfied with it. I'm not losing hope or patience yet though, I'm seeing this project as a process of trial and error. I know it might take me a bunch of tries to get this video perfect, but that's okay. I have a ton of different drafts I made, but I'm not sure which one I'm going to actually use. It took me a while to decide which pictures and videos of myself I wanted to use since I have so much. Writing these blogs has honestly been easier said than done. Don't get me wrong, it's not that difficult of a task, but writer's block has gotten to me. It’s been taking me hours to even think of one sentence to type here. At least I only have this and the reflection to do, then I’ll be done. I managed to pick out which draft I’m using for my project. It’s a pretty simple format I came up with where it’s just pictures and videos that represent who I am. First it’s a title slide, a picture collage, then the videos. One song of choice is playing and there’s captions for each video used. I’m feeling pretty good about this actually. It isn’t looking too bad, it’s pretty decent in my opinion. I hope once I feel like I’m done it’ll be good enough to submit.

 I have set out to begin working on my music video. I have a few volunteers for acting, which is really good. I plan to be in charge of filming and editing because that's what I do best. I used to have a YouTube channel from the ages of 9-12, so I have experience in that field. For a while, editing was my passion, and I'm confident I can make a decent final product. After I made my storyboard, I visualized the main idea for the project. As the first step, I started off by downloading the necessary editing apps. Then, I sought out to research cameras and maybe see if I could buy one that is better quality than my phone. This did not work out, I am broke and cannot afford the camera I so dearly want. Production: Script/Screenplay

 My script doesn't have much dialogue whatsoever. It actually only has two lines where the characters speak. The point of the lack of speech in the script is to create a sense of mystery and suspense. I want whoever is watching to be confused as to what's happening. This will have them wondering what this suspicious character is about to do. I will copy and paste my script here so that you can read it. INT. CHARACTER 1'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DUSK To establish the scene, Character 1 is seen setting up the Christmas tree.  EXT. Our Pitch

 Pitch 1: Long lost twins find each other after being switched up at birth Pitch 2: Millionaire leaves his wife for someone else under the assumption that she's poor, but she turns out to be the richest person in the world I probably wouldn't be interested in doing the first plot. This is because it's super basic, just very cliche. To be honest, me and my partner haven't had the chance to discuss anything. We just agreed to come up with random plots then mutually agree on one. But the first plot I definitely wouldn't pick, only because of how unoriginal it is. Pitch 2 is more interesting to me personally, so I would most likely pick this one. These kinds of dramas are also common, but they're just way more entertaining. It's also really enjoyable, and with the right technique, you can make it more unique than other dramas.
