Short film research: Lifeline

a. Common Sound in your genre

    -a lot of natural (or diegetic) sounds that come from the environment/setting of the film

b. Common Mis-En-Scene (CLAMPS) in your genre

    -costumes aren't exactly costumes, but regular outfits. They are coordinated to look nice for the set

    -a lot of eye level shots

c. Common Editing in your genre

    -this film has minimal editing, only subtitles and a possible filter. I noticed there are no jump cuts of any kind here, it feels very natural 

d. Example films of your genre

    -Hachi: A Dog's Tale

    -Oppenheimer

    -Joker

e. What elements of the genre that you like?

    -In this drama film I really liked the sudden suspenseful moment where one character bangs on a table and yells. I also liked how natural the dialogue felt. 

f. What elements of the genre do not appeal to you?

    -What didn't appeal to me was how there was a lot of silence in the film

 I have set out to begin working on my music video. I have a few volunteers for acting, which is really good. I plan to be in charge of filming and editing because that's what I do best. I used to have a YouTube channel from the ages of 9-12, so I have experience in that field. For a while, editing was my passion, and I'm confident I can make a decent final product. After I made my storyboard, I visualized the main idea for the project. As the first step, I started off by downloading the necessary editing apps. Then, I sought out to research cameras and maybe see if I could buy one that is better quality than my phone. This did not work out, I am broke and cannot afford the camera I so dearly want. Production: Script/Screenplay

 My script doesn't have much dialogue whatsoever. It actually only has two lines where the characters speak. The point of the lack of speech in the script is to create a sense of mystery and suspense. I want whoever is watching to be confused as to what's happening. This will have them wondering what this suspicious character is about to do. I will copy and paste my script here so that you can read it. INT. CHARACTER 1'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DUSK To establish the scene, Character 1 is seen setting up the Christmas tree.  EXT. CHARACTER 1'S HOUSE - ACROSS THE STREET - DUSK  Character 2 stands menacingly outside Character 1's house, with the objective to enter.  EXT. CHARACTER 1'S HOUSE - THE BACKYARD - DUSK Character 2 decides to enter through the back where they will not be seen. They jump the fence, their identity remaining obscured INT. Our Pitch

 Pitch 1: Long lost twins find each other after being switched up at birth Pitch 2: Millionaire leaves his wife for someone else under the assumption that she's poor, but she turns out to be the richest person in the world I probably wouldn't be interested in doing the first plot. This is because it's super basic, just very cliche. To be honest, me and my partner haven't had the chance to discuss anything. We just agreed to come up with random plots then mutually agree on one. But the first plot I definitely wouldn't pick, only because of how unoriginal it is. Pitch 2 is more interesting to me personally, so I would most likely pick this one. These kinds of dramas are also common, but they're just way more entertaining. It's also really enjoyable, and with the right technique, you can make it more unique than other dramas.
