Production Blog- Music

A significant part of a good film is the soundtrack. I just realized we haven’t gotten any music for the final task. I’m sure the same rules from last year apply to now. It has to be royalty or copyright free to avoid any legal issues. That’s pretty annoying, but I guess it makes sense. The good thing is we have an idea of the type of music we want to use. That’s because it’s in the script, which makes finding music easier since we have a description of it. I always thought that finding things on the internet is always super easy, but I thought wrong. Last year, when I needed to find music for my first final task, it proved to be more difficult than what I expected. A lot of videos on YouTube claim to be copyright free, but it’ll end up not actually being that. This is so frustrating, especially when I’ve found a good sound. I really don’t want to have to jump through hoops and email an artist for permission. Most of the time they never even respond or see it at all. One thing I do know is that there is a particular artist who is always reliable for copyright free sounds. Kevin MacLeod, a legend amongst the YouTube meme community. The one elevator song he made is so well known and used in a lot of videos, and he has countless songs posted. I’m sure that if I search hard enough, I’ll find good music for the film. Right now, we need some sort of jazz music. There’s other scenes that’ll require different music. Tomorrow we will discuss that more and kind of make a plan for the soundtrack.
